The Soup Kitchen annual appeal and magazine

Branding • Print design • Potato stamping

I had the opportunity to work with the Wellington Soup Kitchen and collaborate with my co-director Laura Munro on creating a visual style and print design for the Soup Kitchen’s Annual Magazine, Hupa (n. Soup).

This magazine is an opportunity for the Soup Kitchen’s community to share their stories and celebrate successes. We wanted to create a considered professional style that reflected the dignity of the community, and focus on the theme of food and nourishment that is the foundation of the charity’s mission.

As well as the Annual Magazine, we worked with the Soup Kitchen to create volunteer bibs, table covers stickers and collection buckets for the 2015 Street Appeal day, run annually to help raise funds and awareness of the Soup Kitchen's mission. We built upon the visuals that we had created for the Soup Kitchen’s annual magazine, bringing through the organic feel and vibrant colours of the stamped produce.

Rather than limit the content of the magazine to stay within budget, we reduced colour printing to one middle spread and the magazine covers.

Our full colour middle spread was used to showcase the vibrant art created by Fraser Hoffe, a Soup Kitchen guess and member of the community.

Postcards, stickers, and collection buckets used annually for the Soup Kitchen’s street appeal days. Produce illustrations were created with potato stamps that we scanned and coloured digitally.
